12″ MacBook Updated with Latest Processors, Rose Gold Color

Today, Apple released its first refresh of the 12-inch Retina MacBook, putting in the latest Intel processors, better graphics performance, longer battery life and a choice of rose gold finish.

The updated MacBook continues to sport a Retina display, Force Touch trackpad and single USB-C port in an enclosure that is a mere 13.1mm thin. However, it also now includes sixth-generation dual-core Intel Core M processors up to 1.3GHz, faster 1866MHz memory and 25% speedier graphics performance. The extended battery life allows up to 10 hours of wireless web browsing.

Phil Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, referred to the MacBook as “the thinnest and lightest Mac we have ever made” and “our vision for the future of the notebook”. He enthusiastically added that “customers are going to love this update to MacBook”.

The MacBook is available in rose gold, a first for any Mac, along with the usual gold, silver and space gray choices of aluminum finish. Pricing starts at $1,299 for the base 1.1GHz Core m3 model and $1,599 for the 1.2GHz Core m5 alternative.

Both models are available through the Apple Online Store from today and at Apple retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers from tomorrow. In other Mac news, Apple is now also offering 8GB of memory as standard with all configurations of the 13-inch MacBook Air.
