2018 iPhones will feature gigabit LTE technology

New iPhone models in 2018 will feature gigabit LTE technology, according to new reports.

Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, a reliable source of Apple rumors and leaks, has been analyzing the future of LTE technology with the upcoming implementation of 5G in the US.

North American mobile phone network AT&T has already announced plans to launch its 5G network in time for Super Bowl LII on February 4; a full 5G rollout in the United States is expected to follow in the coming years, with 5G networks set to officially launch by 2020.

Now, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities has said that Apple may adopt a faster antenna module in its 2018 iPhones and that the new devices would be “capable of supporting 4×4 MIMO standards”, increasing cellular speeds.

The new report suggests that all iPhone models released in 2018 – and that includes the expected iPhone SE 2 – will be 5G-ready.
