3 tips to help conserve your iPhone’s battery life

iPhone charging

No matter how new your iPhone is, you may often feel as if your device never lasts for as long as you would like. Fortunately, Apple’s legendary smartphone has a number of inbuilt features that can help prolong your device’s battery life.

  1. Low Power Mode

We all know the familiar pop-up “Low Power Mode” that comes up when our iPhone reaches 20%, but adding this feature to your Control Center could save you some precious battery life. Simply navigate to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls, followed by tapping the + icon next to Low Power Mode, if it’s not already there.

  1. View battery usage information

It’s super easy to manage your device’s battery life more effectively, by viewing the proportion of your battery used by each app. To view your usage, go to Settings > Battery. Toggle to the “Last 10 Days” tab to get a broader look at what’s been nibbling away at your power. Checking out the battery life suggestions (just above battery usage) will give you fast, actionable ideas for lessening battery drain.

  1. Temperature control

Apple states that the ideal temperature for your iPhone to perform optimally is between 62 degrees F and 72 degrees F. Anything above 95 degrees F has the potential to “permanently damage battery capacity”.

It goes without saying that most users do their best to keep their iPhone away from extreme heat, but have you considered taking your device out of its case if you notice the phone getting hot while charging? Extreme cold temperatures (below 32 degrees F) can also lower battery life, so keeping your iPhone in an inside pocket can help prolong battery life by keeping the device warmer.

If you’re caught short, the most reliable ways to save battery life are turning down screen brightness and using Low Power Mode. However, bearing in mind the other tips we’ve mentioned will also be invaluable to your efforts to conserve a bit more of your iPhone’s battery.
