5 things we could see at Apple’s March Event

A person wearing glasses and a black shirt stands on a stage, gesturing with one hand. Behind them is an enormous image of Apple's green iPhone's camera array, highlighting the three camera lenses and flash, perhaps subtly referencing the Department of Justice's ongoing legal battle with tech giants.

Though Apple is yet to announce its upcoming spring event, it’s now a tradition that Tim Cook and Co take to the stage and introduce new products and hardware to kickstart the year ahead. According to one report, Apple is planning to host its next event on Tuesday, March 16, and like 2020’s events, it’ll be held virtually from its Cupertino Apple Campus.

But what can we expect to see? Below, we’ve rounded up five possible announcements.

AirTags

Apple has long been working on its own Tile competitor, and we’ve seen code referencing AirTags since iOS 13. The release of these tags has been pushed back several times, but we’re hearing that an early-2021 release is now possible. Apple could introduce the tags as part of a wider iOS 14.X update and add another revenue stream to its wearables division.

iPhone SE Plus

The iPhone SE proved to be incredibly popular in 2020, so much so that the company has reportedly been working on a supersized version modelled off the iPhone 8 Plus. We could see Apple drop this phone during its next keynote presentation, or perhaps it’ll shock us all by introducing a third-generation iPhone SE instead, modelled off the iPhone 12 or 12 mini.

AirPods 3

Apple is reportedly readying the release of the third-generation of its AirPods product, and for the first time, they’ll be redesigned. Insiders believe that Apple has decided to make the AirPods look more like the AirPods Pro to cut costs and offer users a more comfortable fit.

More M1 Macs

We’ll likely see new Macs announced at Apple’s March event, as the company is keen to move more of its devices over to its M1 chips. Apple traditionally announces Macs at its WWDC conferences in June, but it’s likely that at least one or two models will be updated early. From the iMac and MacBook Pro to the Mac Pro, there are lots of upgrades to come.

Apple Car announcement

Okay, hear us out. Apple isn’t going to announce or release an Apple Car just yet, but the company could use its upcoming keynote to confirm the rumours that a car or vehicle is in the works. It’s now common knowledge that Apple is working with Kia on a car project, so why not tease the release and let us take a sneak peek into what the company is working on?
