The all-new Apple Watch Ultra offers a fresh take on the Apple Watch we all know and love. Apple says that the device “brings a new bold design and a wide range of features built for endurance, exploration, and adventure.” We’ve put together everything you need to know about the all-new device.
Stunning new design
It features a stunning 49mm titanium case and flat sapphire front crystal to offer the biggest, brightest display on an Apple Watch to date. It also features a customizable Action button which offers access to a wide range of valuable features and the best battery life of any Apple Watch, up to 36 hours on a single charge.
Improved GPS
Perhaps most interesting about the new Apple Watch Ultra is its new precision dual-frequency GPS, which integrates both L1 and the latest frequency, L5, to offer the most accurate GPS of any Apple Watch. The new Action button on the side of the divide can instantly begin workouts and move users to the next interval of a Custom Workout, reducing the need to slow down during a triathlon or endurance workout and instead focus on getting the job done.
Backtrack ensures you won’t get lost
Other interesting developments include Backtrack, which uses GPS data to create a path showing where the user has been, which is helpful if they get lost or disoriented and need help retracing their steps. This technology works without cellular data, ideal if users are traversing difficult terrain away from civilization. Apple has added a new 86-decibel siren to alert passersby in emergencies, and it can repeat for several hours, whilst a new Low Power Mode and an additional low-power setting allow users to use their watch for up to 60 hours.
Amazing specialist sports tracking
For watersports fans, the new model was built with kitesurfing and wakeboarding in mind, offering performance up to 40 meters under the sea. Apple Watch Ultra is certified to WR100 and features a new depth gauge, displaying the time, current depth, water temperature, duration underwater, and max depth reached.
Intelligent temperature tracking
Speaking of temperature sensors: the new device features temperature-sensing capabilities that enable further insights into women’s health, allowing users to receive retrospective ovulation estimates, while motion sensors and an advanced sensor-fusion algorithm allow the Watch to detect a severe car crash with Crash Detection, dialing emergency services if they are unresponsive after a 10-second countdown. Emergency responders will automatically be given the user’s device location, making this the most life-saving Apple Watch family.
