Many recent purchasers of Samsung smartphones could be tempted by the South Korean electronics giant’s new offer of a $50 Best Buy gift card for every activation of Samsung Pay in the US.
While the mobile payment service, which is basically Samsung’s answer to Apple Pay, has amassed one million users in South Korea, it remains in its infancy in the US. This new offer, which is open to owners of the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ or Note 5 until the end of 2015, is clearly intended to build up American interest in a service currently trailing Apple Pay in adoption on these shores.
As with the Apple alternative, not all credit and debit cards can be used with Samsung Pay. A compatible card is therefore another requirement for taking advantage of this offer; a more detailed list of terms and conditions can be read on the Samsung Promotions website.
