Apple’s AirPods Max— AppleMagazine #492 cover story — might not be for everyone – priced at US$549.00 – but they’re certainly set the industry on fire and offered a new, premium listening experience that will no doubt have competitors on the edge of their seats. If you’re considering a pair of AirPods Max headphones, you might be wondering whether it’s worth waiting for the second-generation to launch, when Apple could iron out some of the flaws of the design in the first AirPods Max.
One feature that some experts predict will arrive with the AirPods Max 2 is MagSafe, Apple’s proprietary charging technology with in-built magnets to reduce the chances of tripping when you’re charging a device, and to reduce the chances of the device being yanked or falling.
Here are four great reasons MagSafe should come to the AirPods Max 2.
- Improve usability – offers an added benefit and feature over standard headphones
- Great for professionals – whether you’re in the studio or out and about, charging with MagSafe could reduce the chances of the AirPods falling or becoming damaged
- Premium feel – Apple is all about offering users a premium, high-end experience, and by commanding a premium price for its headphones, it needs to offer users something more. MagSafe on the AirPods Max would do exactly that
- Consistency – Apple introduced MagSafe to the iPhone in 2020 and is expected to bring MagSafe back to the Mac this year. Offering MagSafe charging on the AirPods Max and other devices would offer consistency across the hardware lineup
