Earlier this year, it was reported that Apple’s virtual assistant Siri was coming to the Mac – and, now, a “reliable” source has shared what are supposedly on-screen icons for Siri on OS X.
MacRumors has shared what it says are screenshots showing a Mac menu bar and app icon for Siri. The menu bar is rather basic, comprising of a black and white icon with, surrounded by a box, the word “Siri”. However, the app icon, shown in the OS X dock, features a Siri waveform in a more elaborate design.
Apparently, clicking on either of these icons will have much the same effect as holding down the Home button on an iOS device, in that a Siri waveform will appear to indicate that the assistant is awaiting a vocal order. There will also be hands-free “Hey Siri” functionality, though this is said to be currently disabled by default.
The Mac version of Siri is reportedly still early in its development. MacRumors also suggests that these two icons, especially the basic menu bar icon, could be tweaked before the feature is officially unveiled – likely at next month’s Worldwide Developers Conference, where OS X 10.12 should be announced.
