Alleged Video of Canned GoldenEye 007 on Xbox 360 Appears

If you have fond memories of playing classic shooter GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64 back in the 1990s, you’ll be intrigued to see what could be footage of the canned Xbox 360 remake in action.

It is known that, during the last decade, a graphically enhanced version of the game for Xbox 360, complete with online multiplayer gaming over the Xbox Live network, was in the works before being cancelled. Now, this footage from Rare Thief shows what the game could have looked like…

While the half-hour video shows many of the N64 original’s levels, weapons and sound effects intact, the whole thing has been given a significant visual makeover. Also shown here is the ability, as rumored, to switch between the original and improved graphics. Nonetheless, the video’s authenticity is impossible to verify for definite.

Both the original game and the Xbox 360 version were developed by British company Rare; however, work on the latter version reportedly stalled after Microsoft failed to strike a satisfactory licensing agreement with Nintendo.
