Almost Bezel-less 10.9” iPad Pro Sans Home Button Coming?

Apple is currently working on an iPad Pro that, while measuring 10.9-inch in screen size, will actually match the current 9.7-inch model’s footprint due to a new, nearly bezel-free design.

These details come from the oft-reliable Japanese blog Macotakara, which adds that a top bezel will stay to accommodate the front-facing camera. According to the site’s “informed source in Taiwan”, the slate’s thickness will also increase to 7.5mm, matching that of the first generation iPad Air.

Especially intriguingly, the Home button will reportedly be axed for this iPad Pro. This presumably refers to the physical button; a Force Touch button built into the screen would, we assume, remain for unlocking the device, authorizing Apple Pay payments, and other uses.

Macotakara further reveals that the next 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be 3mm thicker than the current version, while a 7.9-inch iPad Pro might keep the iPad Mini 4’s thickness. Previously, Barclays analysts predicted that Apple will bring out a similarly-described new line of iPads in March.
