Amazon is giving Apple Music a run for its money after announcing its Amazon Music service would be available to all Prime users at no extra cost.
For the first time, Prime users will be able to access the full catalog of 100 million Amazon Music songs, similar to Apple Music’s catalog, at no additional fee.
Other Prime benefits include next-day delivery and access to a wide selection of television shows and movies under the Prime Video service.
What’s important to note, however, is that Amazon Prime subscribers won’t have unlimited access to Amazon Music tracks – instead, the full catalog will be available when using shuffle mode, similar to Spotify.
Unlike Spotify, however, the tracks will be ad-free.
For many users who enjoy streaming songs and don’t care about specific artists or tracks, this will no doubt be a gamechanger and encourage them to ditch expensive subscriptions from Spotify or Apple Music. Just this week, Apple announced it was increasing its Apple Music subscription price around the world due to rising royalties; bad news for consumers during a cost of living crisis.
