Amazon has rolled out a new Prime Video app for macOS.
The new software, available on the Mac App Store, allows consumers to access the full catalogue of Amazon Prime Video content, as well as the ability to access purchases from Amazon, offline downloads and viewing, AirPlay support, and picture-in-picture on the Mac.
What’s particularly interesting to note is that users can also rent and purchase video content directly in the Amazon Prime app, completing transactions without having to leave and head to Safari or Google Chrome. It’s unknown whether Apple will be taking a cut of any transactions.
Amazon Prime Video for macOS offers users the ability to pay using their saved Amazon details or pay using Apple’s in-app payments system with Touch ID on selected MacBooks and iMacs.
The new app also allows users to access Thursday Night Football, and as it syncs across other Amazon Prime Video apps, you can stop and start between devices, making it the ultimate companion. It’s free to download on the Mac App Store but you’ll need a subscription to access Amazon Prime Video content.
