In the wake of live-action adaptations of classic fairy tales, Amazon Prime has decided to join the race – headed by Disney – and make its own, very special adaptation of the classic fairy tale, Cinderella. On July 1, 2021, Amazon has released the first teaser for its upcoming movie:

Amazon’s Cinderella is going to be very special in terms of political correctness, as it is going to completely change the racial and social context of the story. Cinderella is going to be played by Camilla Cabello, a successful singer, who seems to be a perfect fit for the role of the tortured seamstress called Ella. The teaser, as you could’ve seen for yourselves, shows Ella while dreaming of starting her own boutique, called ‘Dresses by Ella’, but there are also cuts of a royal ball, a handsome prince, her stepmother and stepsisters, a lot of singing and dancing, and, of course, the Fairy Godmother, one of the most important characters from the tale.

Interestingly enough, the Fairy Godmother is going to be played by Billy Porter, which means that this will be the first time that a Black gay actor will play the role of the Fairy Godmother. Cinderella promises to be something unique and completely different, possibly even socially important.

Fans seem to be excited about the movie, with one of them writing: “I literally love this trailer so much already, even though it’s 30 seconds long.” Another, on the other hand, added: “This movie looks visually stunning! Camila Cabello is so talented and what a brilliant cast overall. Definitely excited to see the movie when it is released in September.”

Amazon’s original take on the fairy tale is going to premiere quite soon, on September 3, 2021, so we won’t have to wait overly long to see what the finished movie looks like. Until then, we just have to get our devices ready, our subscription active and we’re all set!
