Yesterday, Amazon’s official Twitter channel revealed a video showing a new device to add to their Echo range: the Echo Look.
The Echo Look is a “hands-free camera and style assistant” that resembles a large webcam on a tripod complete with hands free camera and four LED lights. It’s height allows users to take full length photos and the camera will conveniently blur the background so that the focus is on you.
The top part of the device also features a microphone so that you can ask Amazon’s intelligent assistant Alexa to take a photo for you or read a daily news bulletin, play your music or tell you the weather forecast.
Once a photo has been taken, you can view it in the accompanying Echo Look app or you can ask Alexa to take a short video of your outfit. Over time, Alexa will learn your style and give you recommendations based on your look. How? A built-in feature called Style Check uses machine learning algorithms combined with advice from fashion specialists to give you a “second opinion” on your choice of outfit. Plus, by “[helping] you discover new brands and styles inspired by your lookbook”, it allows you to submit two photos and ask which looks best.

The product listing reads: “Introducing Echo Look — everything you love about Alexa, and now she can help you look your best. Using just your voice, easily take full-length photos and short videos with a hands-free camera that includes built-in LED lighting, depth-sensing camera, and computer vision-based background blur.”
For $199.99, the Echo Look has all of the regular skills and features of Alexa and is available from 26 on the main Amazon site.
