Amazon’s new ‘Anytime’ messaging App set to rival Apple Messages

Exciting new rumors suggest Amazon’s new messaging app, Anytime, will compete with Apple’s own and is ready to launch.  According to the report by AFTVnews, the app will encompass features the messaging app fails to deliver.  Will this new app take over Apple’s domination?

How will Amazon’s app differ?

Apple’s messaging app currently dominates both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store charts.  Apps from a range of providers also feature in the category but they all fall short of Apple’s high standards.

Amazon’s new app will include the usual features to be expected from a messaging app, including encryption, videos, audio support and stickers.  The app will also provide encryption for important messages by introducing increased security measures.  However, the app will include a whole range of never seen before features in an app primarily designed as a messaging service.

The app’s main focus, which differs it from Apple’s, will be on group messaging.  Group features such as games, listening to music, location sharing and ordering food, are all thought to be included in the new app.  The app will perhaps improve communication, with suggestions that the app will allow users to order items through Amazon’s internet shopping portal.

The new app has been called an “all-in-one” messaging solution which will be able to incorporate social networking elements.

A new era of communication

The app will be somewhat closer to WhatsApp in that it will use names instead of phone numbers.  Rumors also suggest mentions through the @ symbol will play a part, as they do on Twitter, improving conversation threads and photo sharing.  To add new members to a group you will simply have to @ mention them.

“Anytime by Amazon will apparently let you “reach all your friends just using their name” without needing their phone numbers. It’s unclear what that means exactly, but it could mean the app hooks into existing social networks and other messaging services.”

How will Alexa feature?

Amazon recently launched messaging and calling features for Alexa devices.  The new app might have the potential to integrate Alexa, although this has not been confirmed as of yet.

Amazon have also not confirmed when the service will launch, however, surveys seen by existing customers seem to suggest it is close to launching.

Only time will tell if the new app will truly be able to rival Apple’s, which has dominated messaging for so long.
