KGI Predicts More About Upcoming New MacBooks and iMacs

Apple will announce three new MacBook models at its Thursday event, but updated iMacs and a new external monitor, the Cinema Display, won’t ship until early 2017, a respected analyst has predicted.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reckons that new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro models will, as previously rumored, come with an OLED touch bar, Touch ID sensor and butterfly mechanism keyboard. KGI’s new predictions about these machines, however, include that Intel’s (US) Skylake processor, a new 2TB SSD storage option, and an oxide panel enabling better display quality will also feature.

A new “13-inch MacBook” will also appear on Thursday, according to Kuo. Given how close in size this would be to the 12-inch MacBook released in April, it seems very plausible that this MacBook will actually be the refreshed 13-inch MacBook Air predicted by Macotakara earlier this week.

As further reported by MacRumors, Kuo also expects new 21.5- and 27-inch iMacs and the 27-inch Cinema Display to be released in the middle of 2017’s first quarter. He admits, however, that KGI remains uncertain whether Apple will make an early announcement of these products on Thursday.
