Analyst: Trio of New iPhones, Including OLED Model, in 2017

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has put out a research note claiming that three new iPhone models, two of which featuring a dual-lens camera, will be launched next year.

In the note, Kuo unsurprisingly says that Apple will bring out new 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones, the latter with a dual-lens shooter, next year. However, Kuo claims that this camera will also appear in a third model that will use an OLED display, leaving LCD panels for the others.

Interestingly, as observed by MacRumors, Kuo did not specify the OLED handset’s display size in this new note. This suggests that the size could be rather up in the air, which would lend credibility to other analysts’ recent suggestions that OLED could lead to a break from the screen size norm…

That’s because OLED displays allow for flexible bending, as can be seen with Samsung’s Galaxy Edge phones. Therefore, Apple might currently be uncertain exactly how curves in this iPhone OLED display would affect its overall size provided that the phone matches the physical size of the 5.5-inch LCD model – as, judging from another recent report, could be on the cards.
