Apple has activated enhanced Find My integration for the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.

The company has issued a new firmware update, 4A400, today, which adds more enhanced integration with Find My to iOS 15, giving AirPods Pro and AirPods Max some added peace of mind.

With the new update, the headphones can now utilise the Find My network so that they can be located even when they’re out of reach from their owner. It’s similar to the way the Find My network works for iPhones and indeed any items that have been adorned with an AirTag, which is great news for consumers who often lose their AirPods Pro or AirPods Max. If someone left them on the bus, for example, another iPhone user could send a message to the owner by tapping the AirTags on their iPhone and help them relocate their lost device – a huge technological leap.

Prior to the update, AirPods Pro was listed on the Find My app but the functionality did not work as you might expect. Indeed, if they were out of range, Apple would show the last known location, which was pretty useless if you lost your AirPods at home or needed to find them in the office.
