Apple adds to services arm with Apple Fitness+

A TV screen, tablet, and smartwatch show a workout session featuring an instructor and a participant performing exercises on mats in a fitness studio. Utilizing Apple Fitness+, the screens display workout metrics like time, heart rate, and calories burned, seamlessly integrating with Apple services.

Apple has expanded its services empire with the launch of Apple Fitness+.

The new fitness service will arrive later in the year, and brings together Apple Watch alongside iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs to offer a personalised workout experience for users of all backgrounds and experience levels.

World-class trainers and personalities will lead the new virtual workouts, encouraging users to achieve more in their training sessions.

Speaking of the new service, Jay Blahnik, Apple’s senior director of fitness for Health Technologies, said: “We’re so excited to energize our customers with new ways to get active and stay active with Apple Watch. With diverse studio workouts that are suitable for all ability levels, led by a phenomenal group of unique trainers, and an approachable program designed for beginners all the way through to the fitness enthusiast — as well as the flexibility to work out anywhere — there’s something for everyone.

“We know Fitness+ will take working out with Apple Watch to the next level with unparalleled engagement, convenience, and inspiration.”

One of the most exciting things about the new service is that recommendations and workouts will be personalised to users, with Apple guiding subscribers to immersive and engaging experiences. Apple Watch rings will also appear on the screen to further engage and incentivize users to complete their workouts, whether it be dance, walking, or running.

Apple Fitness+ will be available in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, and the US later in the year, priced at $9.99 per month. A one-month free trial will be offered, and those who purchase a new Apple Watch can take advantage of an extended free trial.
