There is growing evidence to suggest that Apple will release its AirPower charging pad, following the release of AirPods 2 and its wireless charging case.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, the company has spent time overcoming challenges that delayed the AirPower, with the Cupertino firm “approving production” on the device earlier in the year – despite being announced back in 2017 alongside the release of the iPhone X and AirPods.
AirPower allows users to charge AirPods, an Apple Watch, and an iPhone simultaneously but was delayed following product development challenges.
Apple made the unusual move of debuting the AirPower charging pad early, perhaps in an effort to appease consumers who wanted an all-Apple solution and did not want to rely on third-party Qi charging pads.
What resulted, however, was a year-and-a-half-long wait for the new product, but now there is light at the end of the tunnel.
According to code in the iOS 12.2 beta 6, the iPhone now supports AirPower, whilst the AirPods 2 will require iOS 12.2 for pairing, suggesting the AirPower could be just around the corner, likely today or tomorrow (March 22).
