Apple announces $5,000 iMac Pro

Apple has announced a new addition to the iMac family – the iMac Pro.

The new device, which has a starting price of $4,999, has been described as “the most powerful Mac ever”, and was designed for high-end users who require pro features.

The 27-inch supercomputer, which is expected to go on sale in December, features a Retina 5K display and can be customized to include up to 18 Xeon cores, 22 Teraflops of graphics and up to 4 terabytes of SSD storage.

The new iMac is the first to feature a space grey design, with matching space grey Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad.

A press release on the Apple website states that the iMac will feature “next-generation Intel Xeon processors up to 18 cores” so that it can “handle the most demanding pro workflows.

It adds that its “all-flash architecture and all-new thermal design” delivers up to “80 percent more cooling capacity in the same thin and seamless iMac design”
