Apple has announced a redesigned iMac range at ‘Spring Loaded’ special event, held from the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California.
The announcement comes more than a year after the first rumors of an iMac refresh were brought to light, and marks a new era for the computer.
Apple has been slowly working on refreshing its entire Mac product portfolio as it moves away from Intel chips towards its own custom Apple Silicon chips, known as M1.
Professionals have reported a wide number of benefits to these custom chips, not least improved boot times, better performance, and the ability to convert their iOS apps into macOS apps quickly.
Apple will take to the stage once again next month at the virtual WWDC 2021, where the company will announce iOS 15, macOS 11.1, iPadOS 15, watchOS 8 and perhaps more.
For the first time, the iMac is available in an aluminum body and 7 colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver, designed to mimic the bygone time of the original iMacs.
