Apple announces Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE Are you going to order an Apple Watch Series 6?

Apple has introduced the Apple Watch Series 6 at its Special Event, bringing with it a new Blood Oxygen feature, a faster Apple-branded chip, new colors, and innovative new watch bands.

Speaking of the new smartwatch release, Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, said: “Apple Watch Series 6 completely redefines what a watch can do. With powerful new features, including a Blood Oxygen sensor and app,1 Apple Watch becomes even more indispensable by providing further insight into overall well-being.”

The star of the show was the all-new Blood Oxygen Sensor, which measures a user’s oxygen saturation in their blood to understand their overall fitness levels. The new technology uses green, red, and infrared LED lights to measure the amount of light that’s reflected back from the blood. Apple will then use an advanced algorithm to measure the level of blood oxygen and report back to users, monitoring progress over time.

Other improvements include 20% faster performance, an 18-hour battery life, faster charging (with a full charge taking just 90 minutes) and 2.5 times brighter Always-On display. A new always-on altimeter provides real-time elevation all day long, whilst new cases and bands give users more choice.

Finally, Family Setup makes Apple Watch more useful for families, with parents now able to set parameters for their children, be alerted when they arrive at school or sports club, and limit their contact with other people.

During Apple’s virtual keynote, the company also introduced a new low-cost Apple Watch SE, which is available for $279 in the United States and removes some of the Series 6’s premium features. The Apple Watch Series 3 remains available as the company’s entry-level smartwatch.
