Apple has announced the date of its Special Event for October 13, where the company is likely to unveil the iPhone 12 range of smartphones, and perhaps other new technologies.
Earlier in the month, Apple hosted a Time Flies event, where it showed off the new Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE, and new iPads, but the event was absent of its annual iPhone unveiling.
That’s because of a setback in production due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a result, Apple is now planning to host a separate event to show off its new iPhones.
The iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max are all expected to feature a new design for the first time in several years, taking inspiration from the iPad Pro and iPad Air.
Alongside a new chassis, the new iPhones will support 5G technology for the first time, and other new changes include faster processors and a new camera rig, bringing the iPhones in line with other modern smartphones released in 2020. This could also be the year Apple further shrinks the appearance of the controversial ‘notch’, or perhaps remove it entirely.
The company is also expected to release a 5.4-inch iPhone to serve as the lower-cost iPhone 12. A new version of the iPhone SE – known as the iPhone SE Plus or Pro – could also be coming, whilst Apple’s long-rumored AirTags could also premiere for the first time.
These rough, but gives you an idea of what Apple could be going for with a 5.4” device — something in between an iPhone 8 and an SE, but with a much larger screen.
I would guess they would scale down the UI of the XS, even if screen would be narrower than that of an 8. pic.twitter.com/EFR88i1hEb

Other products that may be featured at the event include new Apple Silicon Macs, a cheaper version of the HomePod, and Apple-branded AirPods Studio, over-ear headphones.
