Apple has announced plans to host its third event in as many months to show off new Macs.
On Tuesday, November 10, Tim Cook and Co will take to the Apple Park campus and debut new Mac products, likely Silicon computers with an ARM-based chip for the first time.
The company confirmed earlier in the year that it was planning to launch MacBooks, iMacs, and Mac minis with its own custom-designed chips back in June, and revealed that we’d see the first ones released before the end of 2020.
Apple will transition the entire Mac range from Intel chips to new A-series chips – similar to the ones used in iPhones and iPads – over the next two years, and the first of those devices are expected to premiere this month.
Apple hopes that its new Silicon chips will offer improved performance and better integrate the hardware and software on the Mac, allowing for more power-efficiency and more.
Apple says transitioning to custom chips will make it easier to create apps for all Apple devices.
We don’t know which Mac will be given the Apple Silicon treatment first, but it has been reported that the company is working on a new MacBook Air.
Apple could even bring back the MacBook to offer an affordable computing experience. However, the 24-inch iMac has also been suggested as a refresh possibility, so the truth is that we don’t know for sure.
Although Apple is likely to focus on Silicon Macs at the event, there’s also the possibility of the company premiering its over-ear headphones, AirPods Pro. The company has also been rumored to be releasing AirTags for a number of months, and they could surface next week.
