Apple has confirmed plans to host a virtual Apple Camp program for kids and parents who are at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, instead of its usual in-store Camp sessions.

Every summer, Apple invites children to its Apple Stores to develop their creative and technical skills, using Apple products. Sessions are lead by Apple Creative Pros and are free to attend, but parents must book them in advance via the Apple website.

Although Apple Stores are now reopening, the company has made the decision to move its program online for 2020, announcing a new at-home endeavor on its social media pages.

The new Apple Camp at Home program is designed for kids aged between 8 and 12, and they’ll be given a series of instructional activities and sessions focused on in-demand skills like coding, video, art, and design.

Users will be encouraged to use their iPads and iPhones.

The program will be complemented by live sessions, which will be broadcast daily and last between 30 and 60 minutes only, on Webex. A virtual activity book will also be available for kids to complete throughout the summer, and some tasks will complement live broadcasts.

Apple has made a number of changes to its usual in-store experience over the past few months, including a virtual Today at Apple program. Back in April, the company also began offering free educational resources for children to experiment with on their iPad devices.

Parents who are interested in Apple Camp can sign up for notifications on the Today at Apple website – registrations are expected to follow in the next week. Are you planning to attend these sessions with your kids? Let us know on Twitter and check back soon for more.
