Next Saturday, Apple’s brand new retail store will open in the Brickell City Centre shopping mall in Miami, the first to be situated in the city’s downtown area. This will only be one of the Apple stores to open that day, however. Two more brand new stores will also be opening their doors at Schildergasse in Cologne, Germany and Jinmao Place in Nanjing, China.
Brickell City Centre is a newly developed shopping mall and mixed-use development in Miami’s thriving financial district. Plans for Apple to open a retail store there were announced in February 2016 and construction began not long afterwards. The store is expected to be one of Apple’s largest retail stores in Florida.
A number of Apple stores in the United States have recently been expanded and renovated to the new design introduced in 2015. This has already been seen with the relocated St John’s Town Centre store in Jacksonville, Florida and is due to happen soon with the Woodland Mall store in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
This new design includes wider open spaces with large glass doors, touch sensitive sequoia wood tables and shelves, seating areas, large 6k resolution video screens, indoor trees and light boxes that extend the length of the ceiling. Elsewhere, the futuristic Apple Park headquarters in the Santa Clara valley will finally be opening in April, with a number of areas including a retail store and café open to the public. Apple Park will also include a 1,200 seat theater named after the company’s late founder Steve Jobs.
