Apple has begun shipping iPhone 12 pre-orders to consumers in the United States and around the world, with trackers suggesting that orders will be delivered on Wednesday.
However, it’s unlikely that the deliveries will be made before Apple’s official October 23 release date. The company opened pre-orders on Friday, and since, the company has struggled to keep up with the demand for its new smartphone range. As shoppers began to pre-order their iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models, shipping estimates slipped into November, demonstrating the huge demand for the new flagship 5G smartphones.
For those who were able to secure an order within the first 30 minutes of availability, orders should arrive by Friday, though Apple is likely to ask carriers to hold onto shipments until the date to ensure users can’t get hold of their device before it’s officially released to the public.
Some Apple customers took to Twitter to confirm that they’ve received shipping confirmation emails from UPS, stating that their iPhones are in transit and will be delivered by Wednesday.
However, Apple typically works with delivery partners around the world to maintain its release date – though there have been occasions when iPhones arrived earlier.
Right now, it’s only possible to preorder the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, with the Pro Max and mini models set to be made available for pre-order on November 6. They’ll then be available to buy in Apple Stores and online from November 13, ahead of the holiday season.
