Apple is bringing the Apple TV app to both the next-generation Xbox Series X, and the PlayStation 5, offering consumers new ways to watch their favorite shows and movies.
According to a report from Windows Central, an Apple TV app has been spotted on early playthrough videos of the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, which are set to be released on November 10, and though the news hasn’t officially been confirmed by Apple just yet, it’s all-but-certain that the app will make its way to the games consoles as Apple looks to expand the reach of its premium Apple TV+ subscription service around the world.

An Xbox Insider beta program member shared the photo on social media, which reveals an Apple TV app in the new list of apps available at launch.
However, it appeared as though the app was non-functional and disappeared after a few minutes’ use – this could be that Xbox is using the Apple TV app as a placeholder, waiting for Apple to submit the final version.
As well as playing Apple TV+ content, the Apple TV app turns any device into an AirPlay device, and allows users to stream shows and movies from other sources like iTunes, Apple TV channels, and more. The app is currently available on macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, PC, Amazon Fire TV sticks, Roku sticks, and select Samsung and LG smart televisions.
In a separate report from 9to5Mac, it has been reported that Apple is also working with Sony ahead of the launch of the PlayStation 5, designed to bring HomeKit support and the Apple TV app to the new gaming console. This would significantly increase the reach of Apple TV+.
