Apple has brought its Apple TV service to YouTube with the launch of a dedicated channel.

The channel appears to have launched when Apple announced the new Apple TV+ streaming service, set for launch later in the year but was only discovered by journalists and Apple fans in the past 24 hours or so, as Apple begins to ramp up its content uploads.

The company is likely to use its new Apple TV channel as a hub for content previews, both of its upcoming Apple TV+ exclusive shows and movies, and blockbuster content available in the Apple TV app for purchase or via rival streaming platforms.

HBO shows like Game of Thrones, for example, are featured heavily in the channel’s current video content, with exclusive cast interviews promoting the show’s eighth and final season.

Apple TV on YouTube also features trailers for new movie releases, something Apple used to offer on the iTunes website back in the day.

The Lion King and The Joker are just two of the many trailers featured on the channel, and it will be interesting to see whether Apple will be the first to premiere trailers for new and up-and-coming movies in the coming months.

Apple has also uploaded a number of trailers for its Carpool Karaoke television series, likely the first of its many original programming trailers.

The minute-long clips offer a brief look into each episode and include a link to watch the show on Apple TV via iOS (and soon to be macOS, with Apple confirming plans to bring the Apple TV app to Macs later in the year).

In other Apple TV news, the company has recently updated the TV app on iOS with iOS 12.3 and tvOS 12.3, both currently in public beta, and will be made available to the public as soon as the updated version of iOS and tvOS are released – likely ahead of WWDC 2019.
