Apple Builds Life Size Replica of Future “Spaceship” Campus

It was heard back in April last year that Apple was planning to construct mock-ups of its upcoming “Spaceship” Campus to replace its Campus 2 building. Today we have some real photos of the location with a model Apple has recently built of the soon to come building. The image above comes from a report by BizJournals. In case there was any doubt that it is the actual model of Apple’s new campus, BizJournals also points to a project proposal for the 1,000 square yard demo building shown below:

You can’t see much of the curved arched aspect in the replica of Apple’s new campus since the building mock-up represents such a small part of the huge planned structure, and it also only depicts 1 level of Apple’s planned 4-story Campus 2. Apple said in submitted proposals for permits that it will use the replica “to try construction methods, tolerances and the visual appearance of precast concrete elements.” Apple has already started the destruction of the Campus 2 site after receiving final approvals from Cupertino officials, though it was originally planned to open in 2015, due to delays the building is now expected to open mid-2016. The campus is suppose to be the grounds of more then 200 trees, to save Steve Jobs environmental legacy.

The predicted final appearance of Apple’s campus (as seen above) is truly incredible, and shows that the company has plenty of growing to do. Last year wasn’t full of any big market-shifting products, but the company is still churning out some impressive stuff, such as the redesigned iPad Air, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPad mini with Retina. Imagine what will come out of Apple’s spaceship campus when completed.
