Many people have found the 4-inch iPhone SE difficult to get hold of in the three months since its launch – however, in various territories not yet including the US, it looks like there is now plenty to go around.
An order for the iPhone SE placed today in the US arm of the Apple Online Store can see the handset delivered by 6 July – eight days from now. While this shipping delay is much shorter than those of 2-3 weeks that were widespread back in April, waiting times have been trimmed even further elsewhere.
Buyers in various European territories, including the United Kingdom, France and Germany, only have to wait a day for dispatch – while there’s a mere two-day delay in Japan and Australia. Better still, customers in China and New Zealand can enjoy same-day dispatch.
The appeal of the iPhone SE is obvious: it packs almost all of the enhancements and features of the iPhone 6S series, including an A9 processor, 2GB of RAM and Live Photos, into a smaller enclosure matching the size and design of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S – and all at a much lower starting price of $399.
Apple has come good on a pledge made by CEO Tim Cook, at the company’s last quarterly conference call in late April, to “get the iPhone SE into the hands of every customer who wants one, as quickly as possible”. He admitted that demand was “much beyond” Apple’s expectations.
