Apple Watch users will be able to celebrate Earth Day 2019 in style with a new challenge.
Developer Kyle Seth Gray spotted the new challenge in watchOS and iOS code, sharing images of the badges and the challenge on social networking site Twitter.
Users who complete a workout of 30 minutes or more on April 22 will be able to receive the Earth Day 2019 badge, a one-time award to add to their Apple Watch badge collection.

“On April 22, get outside, celebrate the planet, and earn this award by doing any workout for 30 minutes or more. Record your time with the Workout app or any app that adds workouts to Health,” the challenge notes read.
As well as a badge, users who complete the challenge will also receive a sticker to use on iMessage – again, you will only be able to earn the badge on Earth Day, and those who do not complete the challenge will be unable to receive the sticker at a later date.
Apple regularly hosts Challenges as part of its Activity app, including for holidays and well-known events.
Apple celebrating Earth Day
Apple has been celebrating Earth Day for a number of years with activity challenges, and this year’s event follows 2017 and 2018’s, where users were asked to complete a 30-minute workout in an effort to spend time outdoors and connect with the planet.
The Cupertino firm will also likely promote Earth Day on its website, and by changing the color of its Apple logo on Apple Stores to green. In previous years, Apple retail employees have also sported green shirts as part of the environmental awareness campaign.
Earth Day 2019 will be Apple’s third limited-time activity challenge of the year, with the company previously hosting challenges for International Women’s Day and Heart Month.
