Apple has confirmed that Sony and Vizio TVs will support Apple TV+ playback “soon”.
Following the announcement that LG would bring Apple TV to its smart televisions later this year, and the decision from TiVo to pause Apple TV integration on its boxes, Apple has come out and confirmed that the next smart TV manufacturer to join it will be Sony and Vizio.
Speaking in a press release about the success of its new Services division, Apple said: “The Apple TV app brings together the different ways to discover and watch shows, movies and more in one app, and is available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, iPod touch, select Samsung smart TVs, and Amazon Fire TV and Roku devices, and will be available on LG, Sony and VIZIO smart TVs later this year.”
“The Apple TV app now offers over 30 Apple TV channels — direct subscriptions to premium video services so customers can watch both online and offline, ad-free and on-demand, all in one app.”
Once the Apple TV app has been ported over to LG, Sony, and Vizio smart TVs, users will be able to access their favorite Apple TV+ content as well as their existing libraries of movies and TV shows purchased through iTunes.
What’s more, via the Apple TV Channels feature, users will be able to pick and choose channels and entertainment they want to pay for.
The news comes on the same day as Apple unveils the trailer for its new series, Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet, which is set to hit the new streaming platform on February 7.
Apple already offers the Apple TV experience on Apple TV devices, the iPhone, iPad, Mac, PC, some Samsung smart TVs, as well as Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices.
