Apple will drop new MacBook Pro models at this year’s WWDC, according to a new report.

Insider Jon Prosser, who has a mixed track record when reporting on upcoming Apple product releases, has suggested that the company would release the first upgrades to its new MacBook Pro at the upcoming developer-focused event, which would tie into the release of new software for macOS, iOS, and more.

Prosser didn’t share any specifics, such as whether the release would include 14-inch or 16-inch models, but he did tease that Apple would premiere the new redesigned MacBook Pro for the first time. Remember that, although Apple did upgrade the MacBook Pro with an M1 chip last year, only the 14-inch model received an overhaul, and we’re still awaiting that long-rumored redesign of both the 14-inch and 16-inch models.

Reliable reports suggest that Apple will reintroduce the MagSafe port onto the Mac, add an HDMI port and perhaps even an SD card reader, as well as adding new Thunderbolt/USB-C ports. Some other insiders have suggested that Apple will mimic the iMac 2021 color wheel and offer similar options on the new MacBook Pro.

Apple will also retire its controversial Touch Bar, offering users a traditional row of function keys instead, and Touch ID will be added to the Escape key, similar to the new iMac. A report from Bloomberg suggests that the new MacBook Pro will come with a 10-core Apple silicon chip, including eight high-performance cores and two energy-efficient cores. The device will also ship with either a 16-core GPU or 32-core GPU and support up to 64 of RAM.
