Apple could be set to expand its Apple Watch lineup with a new color in 2020.
According to reliable French publication WatchGeneration, who has uncovered evidence of a new model entering into manufacturing, Apple is planning to offer a (PRODUCT)RED model of its new Apple Watch Series 5 in early 2020, offering fans a new color for their smartwatch.
WatchGeneration has suggested it has seen a red Apple Watch in an unspecified Apple database, adding that it would be an aluminum Apple Watch with a red finish.
The Apple Watch reportedly looks similar to the red finish as seen on the iPod Touch.
If Apple was to introduce a new color option, it would sit alongside the silver, space gray, and gold aluminum cases currently offered, as well as the premium ceramic options introduced earlier in the year with the Apple Watch Series 5.
It would be the first time a (PRODUCT)RED version of the Apple Watch has been released, and the first time Apple has refreshed an Apple Watch product mid-lifecycle.
From Appleās standpoint, introducing a new color in early 2020 could help to bolster sales of the Series 5.
Though thereās no information on exactly when Apple will launch the new red Apple Watch, we should look to the past for some clues.
In 2017, Apple launched a red version of the iPhone 7 in March, and a year later launched a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 in April 2018.
(PRODUCT)RED Apple products give back to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
For every product sold, Apple donates a small unspecified percentage to the charity and has raised more than $220 million since the partnership began back in 2006.
