Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has provided an update on the expected release of new iPad products, suggesting that there may not be any new releases in 2023.
According to Kuo, the long-rumored folding iPad will finally see the light of day in 2024 and will feature a carbon fiber stand.
Kuo previously predicted a refreshed iPad mini could be released in late 2023, but now says that this date is likely to slip to early 2024. He has also indicated that the folding iPad will not be a replacement for the iPad mini, but instead, will be a separate product.
In a recent series of tweets, Kuo commented on the possible lack of iPad releases in 2023, stating, “There may not be new iPad products in the next 9-12 months (the new iPad mini is more likely to be mass-produced in 1Q24), so I am conservative about iPad shipments in 2023, and the shipments are expected to decline by 10-15% YoY.”
However, Kuo is optimistic about the potential of the folding iPad in 2024, stating, “I am looking forward to the folding iPad in 2024, and expect this product to benefit shipments and improve the product mix.”
He adds that his latest research suggests that the foldable iPad will come with a carbon fiber stand, which will make it lighter and more durable.
It should be noted that Apple has previously been rumored to be working on an iPhone fold, but recent reports suggest that the company is focusing its efforts on a folding iPad instead. What are your thoughts on this news? Let us know and check back soon for more.
