Apple Delays Expiration Date of MacBook Pro Repair Program

Apple has put back the expiration date of its MacBook Pro Repair Extension Program for Video Issues, which the company set up a year ago to address video problems with select MacBook Pro models.

A support document on Apple’s website indicates that the program is now set to be dropped on December 31, 2016, or four years from the original date of sale, for affected 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models sold between February 2011 and February 2013. MacRumors reports that the program was formerly to expire on February 27, 2016, or three years from the original date of sale.

These problem notebooks suffer from distorted video, absent video or unexpected system restarts. You can use the Check Coverage tool on Apple’s website to see if your MacBook Pro is affected. If it is, Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider can repair the notebook at no charge. Even if you have already been charged for an authorized repair, you can contact Apple for a reimbursement.
