Apple donating Product(RED) proceeds to COVID-19 relief

A collection of red Apple products, including an iPhone, Apple Watch, smart cover, iPod nano, Mac Pro, and iPhone case—all showcased against a red background. These devices exemplify Apple's sleek design while supporting COVID-19 relief through their Product(RED) partnership.

Apple will donate proceeds from Product(RED) sales to a new COVID-19 relief effort.

The company announced yesterday (April 15) that a portion of revenue from all sales from its Product(RED) category – including iPhones, Apple Watches, and cases – will be directed towards the response against the COVID-19 crisis through September 30.

Apple has said that the proceeds will be donated to the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response, and that includes the new Product(RED) iPhone SE which was announced yesterday.

Apple has been working with RED for a number of years.

The organization partners with a number of reputable brands like Appel, Starbucks, and Nike to raise funds and awareness for the eradication of HIV and AIDS in African countries.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Product(RED) program will help to provide “support for health systems” during the crisis.

Back in 2018, Apple revealed that it had raised an eye-watering $200 million for Product(RED), but the company doesn’t issue specifics on what percentage the charity receives from each donation.

Apple has released a number of limited-edition red products in recent years, and now several product lines have a red variant on a permanent basis.

Apple has already partnered with Google to help to develop a new contract tracking system for both iOS and Android, and it has donated millions of pieces of PPE equipment to doctors and nurses on the front line.

The company currently has a symptoms monitor on its website and via an app, designed to help the public work out whether or not they have coronavirus.
