Just a week on from the news breaking that Apple was no longer requiring customers to wear a mask in many of its stores, it has now emerged that the tech giant is dropping mask mandates for its corporate and retail workers in the United States.

The move has been made on a backdrop of falling COVID-19 cases and local governments gradually lifting their restrictions.

Bloomberg reported that the company had told its staff masks had ceased to be mandatory for vaccinated corporate employees at offices in regions where local indoor-mask mandates have been lifted. In addition, the Cupertino firm reportedly said to retail workers at a “small number of locations” that masks will become optional on Friday.

Also on Thursday, it was announced that beginning March 7, official Apple Store locations around the US will restart in-person Today at Apple sessions for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company said that music fans and creators will have the opportunity at the next sessions to learn about using the GarageBand app to remix music – specifically Lady Gaga’s song “Free Woman”.
