At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023, Apple announced its plans to bring AirPlay to more hotels worldwide. Initially launched with iOS 17.3 in partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts and LG TVs, the feature is now being adopted by Samsung.

In a recent press release, Samsung revealed that AirPlay support will be integrated into its HBU8000 hospitality TVs first, with plans to expand to additional models.

This move is part of Samsung’s broader strategy to improve in-room experiences for hotel guests and offer better management tools for hotel operators.

Hotel guests will be able to connect their iPhone or iPad to in-room TVs using AirPlay by scanning a unique QR code, eliminating the need for passwords or apps.

Once connected, they can wirelessly stream content from their Apple devices to the TV.

AirPlay to Hotel TVs

Currently, the rollout is limited to IHG Hotels & Resorts, with no additional details on further expansion.

However, Samsung hospitality TVs with AirPlay support are expected to appear in more locations soon. For a full list of IHG locations supporting AirPlay, check their website.
