Apple is expected to announce new AirPods Pro models at this week’s special event.
Tim Cook and Co will take to the stage at the Steve Jobs Theater this Wednesday (September 7) to show off the new Apple Watch Series 8, iPhone 14, and now, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, AirPods Pro 2. The reliable reporter has suggested that the second generation of the popular earphones will be announced during the keynote.
He did not share information on when the AirPods Pro will be available or how much they’ll cost, but he added that he was “told that Wednesday will be their big unveiling” following earlier reports that they’d arrive at some point in 2022.
Apple is expected to announce a number of new features for the AirPods, including an H2 chip to offer better audio quality, as well as improved battery life and a new case that features Find My support, allowing users toa accurately find their AirPods.
Other new features expected include better in-ear detection and fitness tracking.
It’s also thought that the model will support Bluetooth’s LE Audio specification, meaning the device would be connected to multiple devices at the same time.
It had previously been reported that Apple was to adopt a whole new design for the AirPods Pro, removing the stems and offering a look similar to the Beats Studio Buds. Now, it seems like the new model will share the same form factor as the first generation, which is perhaps bad news for consumers looking for an upgrade.
