Apple’s new 4K TV was officially released on Friday and alongside this launch the company has updated their iTunes rental policy.
Customers now have 30 days to watch a movie after it has been rented and then once the movie has started you have an additional 48 hours to finish or rewatch it. Prior to this change U.S. customers only had 24 hours to watch a movie after starting it so this is a welcome change for customers who regularly rent content. The 48 hour limit has been present in other countries for some time now.
Once you’ve rented a movie you can watch it over multiple devices or download it onto a single device and even with downloaded movies that are watched offline the 48 hour time limit still remains.
The introduction of the 4K Apple TV has made 4K movies available for rent or purchase at the same price as HD content. At present, 4K content is only available for streaming and cannot be downloaded.
