Apple eyeing up large space in West LA for production of original content

As we already know, Apple is getting serious about the creation of original content, especially now with reports that they’re eyeing new production quarters in West LA.

It was reported by real estate website The Real Deal this week that Apple wants to lease an 85,000 square foot space right around the corner from its Beats headquarters in Culver City. This means that the Apple Music team would only be 1.2 miles away.

The company is in talks to lease the entirety of Hackman Capital Partners’ 85,000-square-foot creative office development at 5500 W. Jefferson Boulevard near Culver City, sources said. The space, which sits near the La Cienga Expo Line Station, would be used for production.

CBRE’s Jeff Pion, who is the listing broker, declined to comment. Savills Studley is representing Apple, sources said, but representatives of the brokerage declined requests. Hackman could not be reached.

The property is currently on the market for $3.83 million per year and will be ready for tenancy at the beginning of next year, right on time for Apple to start spending the billion dollar budget they have set aside for their production of original content.

It was recently reported that the company has struck a deal with Steven Spielberg to reboot his Amazing Stories series exclusively for Apple and Sony Television veterans Jamie Ehrlicht and Zack Van Amburg  are said to be on the lookout for Game of Thrones-style shows to include as part of Apple’s new effort.
