Apple is reportedly facing quality control issues with the new iPhone 14 range.
According to a report from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company is facing setbacks with the iPhone 14 camera lens, with some lenses cracking due to a coating that’s applied. Because of this, Apple has begun relocating iPhone 14 camera orders to another supplier to mitigate the potential impact on device shipments later this year.
Apple is widely expected to announce the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, and new iPhone 14 Max model this September, and though the news might be frustrating, Kuo says that it shouldn’t have a significant impact on shipments when the model does launch. The new supplier has reportedly stepped in and resolved the issue, allowing Apple to get back on track. Experts say that this year’s iPhone 14 will see higher shipments than last year’s iPhone 13 – Samsung is reportedly preparing 80 million displays for the new iPhone 14 to ship within the third quarter of this year alone.
The Cupertino company will begin mass production on the new iPhone 14 later this month. The models will remove the controversial notch in place of a new pill-shaped cut-out, and there’ll be an always-on display, faster RAM, and a new 48-megapixel camera on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
