Apple has announced it's increasing the price of its subscription services.
As a result, the Apple One subscription bundle is also seeing a price hike.
In the United States, the Apple Music plan has climbed $1 for individuals and around $2 for family plans, whilst Apple TV+ is now $2 more expensive. Apple One, on the other hand, goes up by around $3 per month for users, depending on their tier.
It's the first time that Apple has increased the price of its Music service since launch, and the first time we've seen price increases on Apple TV+ and Apple One.
It comes at the same time as many consumers face significantly higher costs due to the cost of living crisis and global economic downturn. Many brands, including Disney+ and Netflix, have also announced price increases in recent months.
According to Apple, the price hike for Apple Music is due to increased licensing costs. A spokesperson said of hikes that: "The subscription prices for Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple One will increase beginning today. The change to Apple Music is due to an increase in licensing costs, and in turn, artists and songwriters will earn more for the streaming of their music.
"We also continue to add innovative features that make Apple Music the world’s best listening experience. We introduced Apple TV+ at a very low price because we started with just a few shows and movies. Three years later, Apple TV+ is home to an extensive selection of award-winning and broadly acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and kids and family entertainment from the world’s most creative storytellers."
In the United States, Apple Music has climbed from $9.99 to $10.99 and from $14.99 to $16.99, whilst Apple TV+ has climbed from $4.99 to $6.99. For Apple One, users can now expect to pay $16.95 per month, up fron $14.95, whilst families can pay $22.95 per month, up from $19.95. There are similar price hikes in other markets.
