Apple Integrates ChatGPT Across Devices Apple is embedding ChatGPT into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, streamlining access to its expertise and capabilities without switching tools.

Users will find Siri leveraging ChatGPT for assistance, always with prior user consent for questions, documents, or photos shared.

For instance, an iPhone 15 Pro user asking Siri for a five-course meal plan with specific ingredients will be prompted to use ChatGPT, and the results will be presented directly through Siri.

An iPhone 15 Pro user might prompt Siri with:

“I have fresh salmon, lemons, tomatoes. Help me plan a five-course meal with a dish for each taste bud.”

Siri will then ask if the user wants to use ChatGPT for this task. Upon confirmation, Siri presents a detailed response, such as starting with a tomato and basil bruschetta.

Beyond Siri, ChatGPT will also be available in Apple’s systemwide Writing Tools, significantly enhancing content generation for users. The Compose tool in Pages allows users to access ChatGPT for both text and image creation.

For instance, a user writing a bedtime story about a six-year-old named Annie who loves solving riddles can prompt ChatGPT to generate the story.

Additionally, they can use ChatGPT’s image tools to create illustrations in various styles, such as: “Add a magical impressionist image” or “Include a backstory for the caterpillar.”

The integration also ensures robust privacy protections. Users’ IP addresses are obscured, and OpenAI will not store requests. While using these features, ChatGPT’s data-use policies apply, ensuring that user information remains secure.

This functionality will be introduced later this year with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, all powered by GPT-4o. Users can access ChatGPT for free without needing an account, while subscribers can connect their accounts to utilize premium features.
