Apple has unveiled a new version of its iCloud Windows app on the Microsoft Store.
The new iCloud app for Windows allows users to view their iCloud Drive (and of course, make edits and changes to files, though not Mac-specific files like Pages and Numbers documents), view their iCloud Photos, Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, and Bookmarks on Safari in one convenient, easy to use location, streamlining the Windows experience.
In a blog post on the Microsoft website, developers said users would be able to “Safely store your photos and videos in iCloud.
With iCloud Photos, any new photos and videos that you take on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch automatically download to your PC, and upload photos and videos from your PC so that you can access them from your other devices too.”
Users can also take advantage of Shared Albums to create photo and video libraries with the people they choose and “invite friends to add their own photos, videos, and comments,” and get documents “on every device you use with iCloud Drive. Simply drag documents into the iCloud Drive folder on a PC and access them at any time, on any device.”
Users can also keep their iCloud Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Reminders up to date automatically between your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC, and synchronize iCloud bookmarks with their Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Google Chrome bookmarks.
Finally, users will be able to update their iCloud settings, check their storage capacity, delete older items to free up storage, and update their storage plans – the first time such functionality is available outside of the iOS and macOS ecosystem.
All Microsoft users can take advantage of the new iCloud feature, although they must have an existing iCloud account set up on an Apple Device, whether that’s a phone, iPad, or Mac.
