As had been forecast last week, Apple has brought out new versions of the iPod Touch, Nano and Shuffle. Each of these iPod lines have been given additional colors, including gold, pink, blue, silver and the familiar ‘space gray’. However, the iPod Touch has also benefitted from more advanced specs, including an 8-megapixel camera and A8 processor.
Apple’s vice president of iPhone, iPod and iOS Product Marketing, Greg Joswiak, declared that the new Touch “gives customers around the world access to Apple Music, the App Store and iOS, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, starting at just $199” for the 16GB model in the US. He added that, thanks to beefed-up specs, “customers can experience next-level gameplay, take even more beautiful photos and enjoy their favorite music, TV shows and movies.”
Apple has formally unveiled these new iPods a day later than had been widely expected last week, perhaps due to a desire not to distract too much publicity away from the UK launch of Apple Pay which took place yesterday. These new iPods, including 32GB and 64GB Touch models at the respective US prices of $249 and $299, are on sale from today through Apple’s online store and retail stores and select authorized retailers.
