The Cupertino firm has been hard at work, trying to crank out iPhone 5s ever since their release a few months ago. They’ve been far behind consumer demand for the smartphones for some time now, but a new report today suggests that the company is close to closing the gap between low supply and exceeding demand. This is very welcome news to those of you who are planning on getting the iPhone 5 as a gift for the holidays.
Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray stated that consumers should be able to walk into their local Apple Store and walk out with an iPhone 5 on the carrier of their choice within the next two weeks. A closer look reveals that the Verizon model of the iPhone 5 is available in 72 percent of Apple Stores. AT&T’s supply is slightly higher at 82 percent, and Sprint users are almost guaranteed an iPhone 5 with 92 percent of Apple Stores having a decent stockpile.
There hasn’t been any comment from Apple as to why the supply numbers have started to level out, but it’s possible that rumor of the iPhone 5S may have something to do with it. Many users are holding out, in anticipation of the 5S, afraid to spend money on an iPhone 5 that may become obsolete at the beginning of next year. One has to question why Apple would let information regarding the iPhone 5S to leak, considering that it will most likely harm some of their holiday sales for the iPhone 5. This boost in supply is a more than welcome sight to consumers, though, regardless of the cause.
